SureSpeak ("SureSpeak", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our courtroom cross-examination training platform, including our website and any related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, and, where applicable, billing details needed to process payments. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, and Stripe to process subscription payments — we do not store your full card details ourselves; Stripe handles that directly. We also automatically collect certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and general usage data, to help us operate and improve the Service and to keep it secure.
As you use the Service — for example, running practice cross-examination sessions — we collect the content of those sessions and the associated scoring and analytics data so that we can provide the feature and show you your own progress over time.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including scoring and analytics features
- Create and manage your account and process subscription payments via Stripe
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
- Monitor usage, diagnose technical issues, and maintain the security of the Service
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how parts of the Service work.
How we share your information
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service — currently Supabase for authentication and database hosting, and Stripe for payment processing — and only to the extent needed for them to provide those services to us. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SureSpeak, our users, or others.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect your personal information, including access controls and encrypted data transmission. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected users where required by law in the event of a data breach.
Your rights
If you are located in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, the right to restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability. You can exercise most of these rights directly from your account settings, or by contacting us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Children's privacy
The Service is intended for legal professionals and law students and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
