Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 14 September 2026
Welcome to SureSpeak, a courtroom cross-examination training platform for anyone preparing to go to court. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website and services (together, the "Service"), operated by SureSpeak. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The service
SureSpeak provides on-demand practice cross-examination sessions against a realistic AI barrister, together with scoring and analytics on your courtroom performance. We may add, change, or remove features from time to time, and these Terms apply to the Service as it evolves. Some features may require an active paid subscription, as set out on our pricing page.
Accounts
To use most features of the Service you need to create an account, using the authentication options we provide. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. Please notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis and processed through Stripe, our payment processor. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method for the applicable fees. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless stated otherwise at checkout.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users' accounts or data
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use the Service to store or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and training content, is owned by SureSpeak and our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of any content you submit through the Service, such as your practice session inputs. You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide and improve the Service to you.
Disclaimer
The Service is a practice and training tool, not a substitute for supervised training, professional development requirements, or advice from a qualified legal practitioner. We provide the Service on an "as is" and "as available" basis and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
No legal advice
Nothing in the Service — including anything generated, said, or written by the AI opposing barrister or Courtroom Ready coach — is legal advice, and none of it should be relied on as such. The Service is a simulation intended to help you rehearse advocacy technique; it is not a lawyer, has not reviewed your actual case, and has no knowledge of the law as it applies to your specific circumstances.
This applies regardless of how a question is phrased, how a conversation is steered, or whether you attempt to prompt, persuade, or otherwise manipulate the AI into producing output that resembles advice, a recommendation, or an assessment of your legal position. Doing so does not change the nature of that output, and you use it entirely at your own risk. If you need advice on your actual legal situation, you should consult a solicitor, barrister, or other qualified and regulated legal professional.
Limitation of liability
You acknowledge that any output from the Service, including AI-generated content, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for any particular purpose, and that you use it entirely at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SureSpeak is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on output from the Service, including output that resembles legal advice or that was produced in response to attempts to elicit, prompt, or manipulate the AI into giving it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SureSpeak shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm us, other users, or the Service itself. On termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or our legal obligations. Where we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Service before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes arising from them or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
